Churchill Tattoos

Project overview

A bold, image-led portfolio website for an award-winning realism tattoo artist based in Exeter.

About the business

• An award-winning realism tattoo artist from Cebu in the Philippines, now based in Exeter
• Tattooing since 2015
• Portraits and large-scale realism in colour and in black and grey
• Pieces range from single portraits to back pieces of 60 hours
• Studio visits by appointment only

The challenge

Churchill needed a website that could present highly detailed tattoo work with the same impact it has in person, while making it simple for potential clients to explore his style and start an enquiry.

The work

We designed and built a portfolio site around Churchill's own look, with separate galleries for colour and black-and-grey realism, the artist's story, an easy way to book, aftercare advice, and light and dark modes that work just as well on a phone as on a desktop.

Features delivered

• Separate portfolio pages for colour realism and black-and-grey realism, each with its own search title
• A selected-work index: hover over a project to preview it on desktop, or tap on a phone
• The hours or sessions behind the big pieces shown beside them, so clients can see what large work involves
• A four-step enquiry (the idea, where and how big, colour or black and grey, then contact details) that takes about three minutes and needs no tattoo jargon
• Enquire from any piece and the form starts with that piece already mentioned
• The finished enquiry opens as a ready-written email, so clients can attach their reference photos before they send it
• An About page laid out as a field journal in four chapters, from Cebu to Exeter, that visitors turn like a book
• An aftercare FAQ with a downloadable aftercare guide
• Light and dark modes

What's on the site

• Home
• Colour realism portfolio
• Black-and-grey realism portfolio
• About (the journal)
• Book a session

SEO and analytics

Added descriptive page metadata, social sharing tags, semantic page structure, accessible image text, and content-led routes for Churchill's services and portfolio categories.
